Male genital warts are medically termed condylomata acuminate or venereal warts. It is a sexually transmitted disease and mostly found in men who are sexually active and had multiple sexual partners.
Male genital warts are highly contagious and caused by various strains of human papillomavirus also known as HPV. The signs and symptoms of male genital warts are very visible to naked eye most especially because these warts are bigger in size and grow outside the genital organs. They occur in clusters or in group which can vary in sizes. Since this involves the male organ, it usually resides in the penis area wherein they look like small stalks. In specifics, it can be seen in the tip of the penis; shaft area; scrotum; or near, around, and inside the anus. Although it is very rare, warts can also grow in mouth and throat of person who had oral sex with an infected person.
What really happens is that, the viral particles will able to penetrate the mucosal surface of the genitalia as clearly happens during intercourse. Once these viruses have reached the mucosa, it can then progressively spread to other sites causing the disease and increasing its severity.
With the increasing incidence of male genital warts, a vaccine has been sold that protects every individual against HPV types 6, 11, 16, and 18. This vaccine is both preventive measures and therapeutic agents. It has already been accepted to different countries and as of this moment, more and more people mostly youngsters are advised to get their self vaccinated.
There is no specific cure for the virus but then you can do something on the warts. In some cases, these warts will eventually disappear but there is no clear evidence as to when it will be gone.
