Eczema is a related set of diseases that causes dry, itch skin. Eczema is not one disease but a number of related conditions, and so there isn't just one treatment. People who suffer from eczema may get rashes and spots of red, inflamed skin. This condition can be uncomfortable and even painful, and it can cause sufferers much social embarassment. Recent research has shown that your diet can affect this condition. People with food allergies are certainly more prone to having skin issues with eczema, but even if you think you don't have food allergies, they might just be too mild to notice. Here are some tips for finding foods that cause flare ups and getting rid of them.

The most common food allergies for eczema sufferers are milk, eggs, wheat, and soy. Other foods that can cause allergic reactions include fish and shellfish, certain types of nuts, and other cow's milk products. These foods can cause you to break out, have an eczema flare up, or, if your allergy is severe, they may cause a dangerous reaction. On the other hand, you might not notice any strong symptoms right after you eat them. That doesn't mean they're not causing problems, though.

Children and babies are the most common to suffer from eczema food allergies. Unfortunately, they can also be more difficult to diagnose. If your baby reacts to milk, for example, you might have to switch to a non allergenic forumla or different type of milk. Food allergies are a common cause of eczema outbreaks among babies, and to a lesser extend children. If you see a rash or red itchy skin on your child, consider if something they ate recently might have caused an eczema outbreak.

If you or a loved one suffers from itchy dry skin associated with eczema, a different diet may be the key to getting it under control. To start with, avoid certain foods that are problems for lots of people with food allergies. Try to figure out which foods are causing the problem if you can. Food allergies are especially common in children and babies, so be especially watchful with them.
