What does the dental implant process entail?

Step one sees the dentist insert the dental implant into the jaw, and in order to prevent debris from entering, a screw is inserted. The implant is then given three to six months to fuse with the bone. In the second step the dentist attaches a post which is simply an extension to the implant. On occasion another procedure is performed where the post is attached connecting the artificial teeth. Sometimes the dental implant is actually made up of the post and implant meaning the unit is inserted during the first step. In the final step and after the healing the dentist makes a dental crown that blends with the rest of your teeth and attaches the dental crown to the implant post.
