Stretch Marks: Laser Stretch Mark Removal
Posted Wednesday, January 16, 2008
Laser stretch mark removal is an increasingly popular method used to reduce the appearance of stretch marks. It is a non-invasive in-office procedure that needs no recovery time.
How Laser Stretch Mark Removal works
Laser therapy seals blood vessels that cause stretch marks to appear red, which will minimize the appearance and cause them to seem to just disappear. The laser can also be used to activate collagen growth, which will attempt to close the gaps made when the scar was created.
Laser Stretch Mark Removal - The Risks
Like any medical procedure, laser stretch mark removal is not without its share of risks. For instance, it is possible that a faulty laser could cause some superficial tissue damage. Also, there is always a risk that some stretch marks may not be removed by laser treatments. Finally, there is also a risk of blisters and other reactions to the treatment.
Laser Stretch Mark Removal - The Cost
The cost of this procedure is usually not covered by insurance and costs over $200 a visit. Most stretch marks require 6-8 visits. This can be very cost-prohibitive for many people...especially if they are not sure it will even work for them
Stretch Mark Removal - Alternatives
There are other creams and treatments out there, but most do not have as high of a success rate as the laser surgery. Only Trilastin SR from EA Research has been shown to be as effective as the laser procedure and it costs a lot less.
Stretch Mark Removal - Your Choice
If you are determined to try the laser procedure, go for it...but most people are happy to try less expensive and risky treatment options first.
