Your skin cell turnover becomes slower and the stratum corneum starts pilling up with dry detrimental cells now. Environmental damage could be visible in your skin by the late 30s. At this age, your outer layer of your skin, the stratum corneum is becoming thicker than before. It's is harder to get rid of dead skin cells than before. Dry lines and wrinkles could be obvious if you have not been taking good care of your skin.

Tip: You can either turn to AHA preparations, exfoliations or some vitamin-A derivative cream like retinoid to turn back the clock. Consider investing in some collagen supplements to boost your skin's elasticity again.

In your 50s, 60s and beyond

It's not impossible to grow old gracefully. Expression lines are a common trait when you reach this important milestone of your life. Your skin grows to a stage of stability and for those who have been taking great care of their skin, you will be enjoying a complexion that is smoother, brighter and suffering from less wrinkles. There are many cosmetic procedures you can consider to soften those obvious signs of old age and dry skin.

Tip: Botox injection, laser treatment, HRT or alternative remedies can be a great boon to the appearance of your skin. Results are faster but the cost and risks should be properly evaluated before you decide to go for one.
