Most acne victims would push it through the limit just to save their skin from more damage. They would go from one treatment to another hoping that this would yield the best result and better advantages. But one crucial factor to consider in evaluating the acne treatment is the price that it asks from the patient. Acne treatments could be quite expensive and there is no room for failure in choosing the right treatment as this would not only waste your money but could also aggravate the condition of your skin, most specifically the skin of your face. You must get the best value for money and this must be done by carefully evaluating the pros and cons of the treatment against the costs.

ANTIBIOTICS

Apart from homeopathic remedies, acne patients usually receive initial recommendation on using antibiotic for acne during their first medical visits. Antibiotics come in different forms- usually as tablets, creams or lotions. These help by reducing the presence of bacteria on your skin which is one major factor why the skin, in the first place, produces acne. This treatment usually lasts for 6 months but results are noticeable by around the first two months.

The use of antibiotics for a period of 6 months could run over $300 for six months.

ROACCUTANE

This drug is also known as isotretinoin and accutane which is basically composed of Vitamin A, a main component to that helps regenerate cells. Like antibiotic, the use of Roaccutane could last up to six months. This works by reducing the sebum or skin oil production and by lessening the size of the sebaceous glands. This treatment is very expensive and should only be used for severe acne cases. This is a prescription only drugs and your dermatologist have the option to restrict your form using this drug if he sees that this may not be good for you.

Cons

Price

60 capsules of Roaccutane, Accutane and Isotretinoin could run somewhere from $470 up to around $500.

DERMABRASION

This treatment is perhaps one of the most popular in the acne industry. This works by removing the outer layers of the skin.

Pros

Cons

Price

The base price for dermabrasion is a little over $1000. However, due to some additional prices incurred by the professional fee of the anesthesiologist and the cost of anesthesia, the cost of the operating room, and other medications needed during and after the procedure, the final price for one dermabrasion procedure sums to around $2000 to $3000.

Other typical costs of acne treatments such as chemical peels may run somewhere from $500 to $600. Skin treatments which include laser treatments may be at the margin of $2300 to a little over $3000. On the other hand, soft tissue augmentation may cost you an average price of $380. Most acne procedures cost more than $500 and it is rare that you will find acne treatment procedures asking you more than $5000 or more. These prices only implicate that if you are really serious about undergoing an acne treatment procedure, you must also be ready to exhaust your pockets.
